How do I sign up?

Open Dtecto and tap "Start 14-Day Free Trial" on the paywall — an anonymous account is created for you so you can use the app immediately. To save your account across reinstalls and devices, tap Sign in with Apple on the paywall, on the account setup screen, or later in Settings.

How do I sign in on a new device?

Install Dtecto from the App Store, open it, and tap Sign in on the paywall. Sign in with Apple using the same Apple ID and your account, finds, and subscription all carry over.

How do I delete my account?

Open Dtecto → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your finds, hunts, photos, comments, and profile within 30 days. Cancel your subscription first in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions if you no longer want to be billed.

Subscription & billing

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Cancel any time in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Dtecto. If you cancel during the 14-day free trial you won't be charged.

I was charged but I don't have access. How do I restore?

On the paywall, tap Restore at the bottom of the screen. Apple will look up your purchase history and grant access if you have an active subscription on the Apple ID you're signed in with.

I have a promo code or offer code. Where do I enter it?

On the paywall, tap Have a code? at the bottom. Apple's redemption sheet will open. Paste the code and confirm.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Dtecto purchase, and submit a refund request to Apple directly. We can't issue refunds on Apple's behalf, but we're happy to help if you reach out.

Privacy & location

Who can see my finds?

Every find has a visibility setting you choose when posting. Private finds are only visible to you. Public finds appear on your profile and in the community feed. You can toggle visibility on any find at any time.

Does the app share my location?

Only when you choose to. Each find has a separate "Pin on the public map" toggle that defaults to off. Your exact GPS only appears on the community map if you explicitly opt in per find. Finds without that toggle still appear in the community feed but not on the map.

AI find identification

How accurate is the AI?

The AI identification is a best guess based on your photo. Every AI result comes with a confidence score and a clear disclaimer that it's not an appraisal. For valuable or historically significant finds, consult a qualified numismatist, archaeologist, or appraiser.

Can I edit the AI's identification?

Yes. Tap a find → the More menu in the top-right → Edit. You can update the category, notes, and visibility. The AI result stays as a record but your edits show in the rest of the app.

Community & moderation

How do I report a post or comment?

Tap the three-dot menu on any post or comment and choose Report. Pick a reason and submit. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours and content that violates our Community Guidelines is removed. Repeat offenders are banned.

How do I block a user?

Tap the three-dot menu on any post by the user and choose Block. Blocked accounts can't see your content and you won't see theirs. Manage blocks any time in Settings → Privacy → Blocked accounts.
